Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr praises Buddy Hield after win over Pistons

The Golden State Warriors secured their 19th win of the season with a 107:104 victory over the Detroit Pistons. Steve Kerr’s team have struggled in recent weeks and will welcome the opportunity to regain some momentum to build back to the intensity with which they started the season.

Despite a well-rounded performance in which several members of the Warriors rotation made an impression, Buddy Hield set the tone. His outside shooting ensured Kerr’s team had the spacing it needed for Golden State to play at its best. Hield scored 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. He shot 5 of 11 from distance.

During his postgame press conference, Kerr praised Hield’s impact and noted that he had become a fixture in the locker room as a “great teammate.”

“Mate, he was pushing,” Kerr said. “He’s such a great teammate and he cares so much. Everyone was so happy to see him play like that and contribute. It was fun to see him with his smile, taking shots and feeling good about everything.”

Six members of the Warriors roster finished the game with double-digit point totals. They will need this cohesive approach if they want to pick up some wins and move up in the Western Conference. Golden State got off to a hot start to the season due to its strong rotation, high-intensity approach and collective attitude to shooting the ball and shutting teams down. We saw that against Detroit too.

Now the Warriors must show that same hunger and fight when they take on the Toronto Raptors on Monday, January 13th.
