“Texas stands ready to provide all necessary resources to help local authorities respond to severe weather threats,” Gov. Abbott said in a news release announcing the weather. “As Texans and out-of-state visitors begin traveling after the Christmas holiday, it is critical that everyone regularly monitor road conditions, create an emergency plan and follow guidance from state and local officials. I thank all responders for their work this holiday week as they help their fellow Texans during these storms.”

The National Weather Service has reported that severe thunderstorms are expected across the state on Thursday. These storms carry the risk of heavy rainfall, large hailstones, strong winds and even tornadoes.
