Eight years after winning “America’s Got Talent” at age 12, Grace Vander Waal blows people away again.

In honor of her role in Francis Ford CoppolaIn her film “Megalopolis,” the actress took the stage at the 47th Kennedy Center Honors, where she sang “The Impossible Dream.”

Coppola is one of four winners honored for their artistic achievements.

During an appearance for the longtime director, fans on TikTok were amazed at how much VanderWaal has grown over the past eight years.

“I was just thinking about her,” revealed one comment. “Her singing technique has evolved so much. She has such a beautiful alto voice.”

“She’s about to make the biggest comeback,” read another comment. “And she deserves everything.”

The stars’ first Grammy appearances

VanderWaal became a household name when she took center stage during Season 11 of “America’s Got Talent,” ukulele in hand, singing an original song called “I Don’t Know My Name.”

The audition resulted Howie Mandel hit the Golden Buzzer. She would win the competition.

In September, VanderWaal spoke about the public’s reaction to the fact that she is no longer the 12-year-old girl they were first introduced to nearly a decade ago.

“I recently had the strangest experience,” she told Variety, recalling a moment when she encountered a fan coming out of a public restroom.

“She said, ‘You’re a woman!’ You’re an adult!’ I literally wanted to gently raise her, but she couldn’t get over it. She couldn’t handle it.”

VanderWaal is increasingly worried about this. “I was so afraid of destroying that dream for people,” she told Variety.

“But I want you to ask yourself: Why do you feel personally affected? It’s really sad, but it was very liberating to get that back for myself.”

The following month, after appearing on the Today Show, VanderWaal admitted that she no longer sees the footage of her 12-year-old self standing on the “AGT” stages and wondered if they would ever be recognized for anything else would.

When talking to Hoda Kotb And Jenna Bush HagerVanderWaal spoke about her experience on the set of “Megalopolis,” where she plays a pop star, revealing that it was “a lot” and admitting that she “doesn’t belong in that world.”

“You want to continue making music?” asked Hager. “Oh yes,” VanderWaal replied.

The now 20-year-old is expected to release her second studio album in 2025.
