Grand Theft Auto 6’s release window will have an impact across the industry, as publishers look to launch their titles as far away from it as possible

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be one of, if not the biggest, video game releases of all time, and its release window, still up in the air with a possible delay until 2026, is already influencing the video game industry entirely.

In a new report published today on Bloomberg, it was revealed that anticipation for the game is so high that rival video game publishers are waiting as long as possible before committing to fall 2025 release dates for their games, like They want to see Grand Theft Auto 6 actually come out next year or even 2025 and we want to release their games as far away from that as possible. This is far from surprising considering analysts believe it will be the biggest entertainment launch ever, which could have a massive impact on the entire industry, and not just in terms of release times.

It’s been a while since Rockstar Games talked about Grand Theft Auto 6. Back in May, publisher Take-Two confirmed that the game was still on track for a fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but has not commented since then. The ambitious nature of the game could see it pushed back to 2026, but for now the game’s release window has not been changed.

However, anyone who wants to experience Grand Theft Auto 6 at its best will have to wait longer than anyone else, as a PC release, which is sure to come at some point, has yet to be officially confirmed. Compromises are likely to be made on consoles, and even the PlayStation 5 Pro may not be able to run the game at 60 FPS when the game aims for 30 FPS on the base model, largely due to CPU limitations.
