Grant DuBose of the Dolphins is placed on a stretcher after the hit and is taken to the hospital

HOUSTON – Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose is hospitalized after suffering a head injury after being hit helmet-to-helmet during Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, leaving him unable to move.

The Dolphins said his condition is stable and he will continue to be evaluated.

DuBose didn’t move after the hit by Texas safety Calen Bullock and received medical care for about 11 minutes before being loaded onto a stretcher and quickly rolled off the field. During this time, medical staff removed his face mask and helmet and ultimately appeared to cut his jersey off.

DuBose was shirtless for several minutes as he continued to receive medical attention. The 23-year-old did not appear to move at any point during the process, was placed on a spine board with his arms and legs strapped and was wearing a neck brace as he was taken off the pitch.

At some point, as he lay on the ground, the dolphins moved away from him and went into a circle where they knelt and appeared to pray. Miami coach Mike McDaniel and Houston coach DeMeco Ryans hugged at one point while he was still on the field.

Bullock received a flag for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless receiver on the play.

It was DuBose’s first game since Week 2, when he was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. This is his first season with the Dolphins, who claimed him off waivers in August.
