Gusty winds are forecast for Saturday; Pattern change next week

The KFOX14 Severe Weather Team has issued a weather advisory for the borderland, effective Tuesday evening and lasting through Friday morning.

This is due to an arctic cold front bringing freezing temperatures and increasing the chance of snow next week.

Ahead of the front, conditions on Monday will be seasonal and calm, with highs in the upper 50s to near 60s and partly cloudy.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Tuesday, reaching the upper 40s.

The cold front arrives late Tuesday evening and changes our winds to be from the east on Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory effective Tuesday night through 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Winds will also be quite gusty Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning, resulting in temperatures around 20°C with wind chills in the teens and single digits.

The highs on Wednesday afternoon will hardly rise above freezing in many places.

Remember to always protect the 4 Ps in cold weather: people, pets, plants and pipes.

In addition to significant cold, an upper level storm system will bring Pacific moisture to our west, making snow possible starting Wednesday.

The chance of snow will continue at least through Friday morning.

Models indicate accumulation totals ranging from 0 to 2 inches for the El Paso and Las Cruces areas.

Stay with the KFOX14 Severe Weather Team for the latest updates as the forecast will continue to evolve and change in the coming days.
