Hannah Kobayashi case: Cause of death for Ryan Kobayashi, father of a missing woman from Hawaii, determined

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Ryan Kobayashi, the father of a Hawaii woman missing in Los Angeles, died by suicide over the weekend, the medical examiner’s office confirmed Monday.

Kobayashi’s body was found near Los Angeles International Airport early Sunday morning. The 58-year-old flew to Los Angeles earlier this month to help search for his missing daughter, 30-year-old Hannah Kobayashi.

Los Angeles police told ABC News that Ryan Kobayashi’s body was found around 4 a.m. Sunday at 6151 W. Century Blvd., a store near LAX.

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released its finding, listing the manner of death as suicide and the cause as multiple traumatic blunt force injuries, suggesting he was found in a parking lot.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Kobayashi’s fiancée.

A note on his niece’s page reads in part: “Since Hannah’s disappearance he has been living his absolute worst nightmare and now, following his death, our family is struggling with unimaginable grief. Ryan’s love for his family knew no bounds and he would do anything to protect and provide for his daughters.
