Haliey Welch, the woman known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” launched her own memecoin on Solana, with the cryptocurrency reportedly crashing shortly after its reveal.

“Hawk is live!!!” Welch, a 22-year-old social media influencer, wrote on X on Wednesday evening.

The post included a three-second video of Welch screaming excitedly about the launch.

According to Solana, the Welch token then shot up to $500 million – before plummeting to less than $60 million in just 20 minutes.

Critics continued to accuse her of plotting a cryptocurrency scam.

Shortly after the launch, Welch took to social media again and said her team “tried to stop snipers as best they could by paying high fees (sic) at the start of the launch.” She added that her team didn’t have a single one Sold tokens.

Ahead of the launch, Welch told Fortune that the memecoin wasn’t just a money grab, adding that although she previously thought cryptocurrency was “just a scam” and an “easy opportunity,” she has since changed her mind “Losing money”. .
