Heartbroken Riley Green Shares New Unreleased Song Teaser “What Am I Supposed to Do Now”

Since he graduated in 2024 It’s not My last rodeo On tour, Riley Green is in the middle of hunting season – but luckily he also seems to have found some time for songwriting.

It’s a running joke in the country world that the Alabama native loves hunting far more than music and that he reluctantly retreats from the woods when it’s time to work on new tunes. In reality, however, Riley Green would argue that it’s possible to love two things, and whenever he steps off the tour bus and puts on his full camouflage gear, it seems to get Riley’s creative juices flowing.

Excitingly, the “Different ‘Round Here” hitmaker posted a brand new, unreleased track on Instagram called “What Am I Supposed Do,” just months after the release of his much-lauded new studio album, “What Am I Supposed Do.” I don’t mind if I doin October.

The new work is a beautifully stripped-down track that finds Riley Green’s weathered, charismatic vocals gliding over a rhythmic acoustic guitar riff as he sings dejectedly about leaning on alcohol to ease his heartbreak.

The “Get That Man a Beer” singer-songwriter reflects, “I’m lonely, that’s nothing new / ‘Cause every single minute I have I spend here missing you / Who could blame me for hanging in there.” / I’ll be damned if I pick up the phone, but I’ll be a little damned if I don’t.”

Riley Green does a pretty good job of not making fans wait too long to hear the full studio versions of his demos, especially compared to his fellow country stars. Fingers crossed he drops “What Am I Supposed to Do” before grabbing his crossbow and returning to his happy place out in the woods.

The full lyrics to “What Am I Supposed to Do” by Riley Green are below:

“I’m lonely, that’s nothing new

Because every single minute I have here I spend missing you

Who could blame me for persevering?

I’ll be damned if I pick up the phone, but I’ll also be a little damned if I don’t

Because at the moment I’m suffering from cigarette smoke

Cheap, good whiskey, I wish you’d come home

But you’re not here to save me

So I can bear this heartbreak

Go back and miss your memory lane

Driving past sober like a runaway train

There is no doubt about that

This poor heart is almost drowning

I’m stuck in this bottle and there’s no way out

What should I do now?

“Yeah, what should I do now?”
