Heavy snow and freezing rain prompt a weather advisory for Oregon Cascades

KGW Meteorologist Joe Raineri reports 4 to 8 inches of snow could accumulate overnight. On Sunday you could see another foot. Raineri said freezing rain could occur in some areas.

PORTLAND, Ore. – KGW is issuing a weather advisory for the Oregon Cascades beginning Saturday night through Monday morning due to heavy snow and areas of freezing rain.

The warning applies to altitudes of 3,500 feet and higher.

KGW meteorologist Joe Raineri reports that 10 to 20 cm of snow could accumulate overnight and that more snow accumulation could occur on Sunday. Raineri also said freezing rain could occur in some areas.

“Not only will we see heavy snow showers with gusts up to 40 miles per hour, but there will also be areas of freezing rain,” Raineri said Saturday. “Crossing the passes will only be easy towards the end of Monday as drier conditions arrive.”
