After Purdue scored 104 points, he boarded a plane and, like generations before, will seek his fortune in the West. But it’s not about gold, silver or other precious metals that they’re looking for. No, instead it’s Siege. Solid (old) gold wins! Purdue has an opportunity to win two of them on this road trip, and the first chance is tonight against the Washington Huskies.

A conference away game against Washington. Imagine going back in time and saying that to yourself 5 years ago, 10 years ago, or even 20 years ago when I was a freshman at Purdue. It would have been absolutely incredible. But that is the reality in which we live. Purdue has only suffered one conference loss so far this season, but still finds itself one game back on the loss list as neither Michigan nor Michigan State have lost a game. However, as the only team in the conference with just one loss, Purdue sits alone in third place. Michigan and Michigan State will certainly both lose their share of games, but Purdue needs this game against Washington to compete. In the Big Ten, the assumption is that the team that wins the conference is not always the best team, but rather the team that wins the games it should win and doesn’t make mistakes on the road. Purdue should win this game. You have to win this game to compete.
