HFD firefighter charged with alleged sexual assault of minor | Crime and courts

HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) recently charged a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor. Officials also confirmed that the man is a firefighter with the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD).

A man charged with sexually assaulting a minor has been confirmed to be a Honolulu firefighter.



HPD reports that Travis Kotrys, 42, is accused of inappropriately touching a minor.

Court documents alleged that Kotrys regularly assaulted the minor shortly after midnight in the minor’s bedroom. He is accused of minor bodily harm.

The documents also show that he keeps two guns in his bedroom closet.

Kotrys is currently being held at the Oahu Community Correctional Center on $500,000 bail.

An HFD spokesperson released a statement regarding the incident:

“The charges against firefighter Travis Kotrys are deeply disturbing. We place the highest demands on professionalism, integrity and behavior. This criminal case is now before the judiciary and firefighter Kotrys has been assigned a non-public role.”
