Morgan ignores Tom and instead chooses to work with Karadec

She chooses work instead of dating

The first scene of High potentialThe midseason premiere (“Obsessed”) wasted no time in pointing out a crucial flaw in Morgan and Tom’s romance: Morgan doesn’t have the time to commit. As a mother and LAPD counselor, she’s already stretched pretty thin. After wrapping herself in a new cover, Morgan’s phone lights up. High potential could become a TV show with regular romantic subplots if Morgan and Karadec continue to form a bond.

Despite the revelations that Selena will learn in the coming episodes, not only Morgan, but also her daughter Ava (Amirah J) is concerned about the ignorance of what happened to her husband 15 years ago. Given the uncertainty looming in the background, it would be impossible for Morgan to fully commit to a new relationship, even if she has completely broken away from Roman romantically. Morgan has already shown that caring for her daughter can trump everything else, and that could easily impact their romance, or necessary lack thereof, as they learn the truth about Roman.

Attraction is not a good foundation

Morgan deserves someone like Tom who can keep up with her banter and express his feelings openly, but their relationship must be temporary if it is to exist at all. Tom may have reassured her that his life is just as messy and chaotic as hers, but that doesn’t mean they should be together. In fact, without a stable foundation, two people going through sudden and emotional changes would make a terrible couple. The two make a cute couple, but life will get in the way too much and prevent them from being anything other than short-term.
