Hilaria Baldwin “forgets” the English word “onions” while preparing a “traditional” Spanish dish for the holidays

It’s the accent that just won’t stop.

Never mind that she grew up as plain old Hillary Hayward-Thomas in an upscale Boston neighborhood, it was a case of “Feliz Navidad” at Casa Baldwin.

The video, obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, shows self-proclaimed Spaniard Hilaria Baldwin treating her holiday guests to a “traditional” Spanish tortilla, served with a hefty side of accented Spanglish.

Hilaria, 40, stands in the kitchen in a checkered romper and brags about the authenticity of the recipe in her fake Spanish tones.

In a heavily accented baby voice, she says, “I learned that as a child, don’t look it up online or you’ll learn something else.”

The secret to her tortilla, she says, is that the potatoes are “not cut too small.”

Turning to her friend cooking next to her, she then seems to forget the English word “onions” as she refers to actor husband Alec and reveals: “My husband hates… cebollas.”

Given that she seems to have completely forgotten that she isn’t actually Spanish, the occasional slip of a word is perhaps not surprising.

Her friend comes to the rescue and helpfully reminds her about “onions.” English is such a tricky language.

It’s not the first time that Hilaria has stumbled over her native language.

In 2015, she appeared in a now-infamous six-minute segment on the Today Show in which she made “authentic” gazpacho, listing the ingredients and at one point appearing to forget the English word “cucumber.”

“We have very few ingredients,” she told Telemundo TV host Evi Siskos, with whom she was appearing that day.

‘We have tomatoes, we have, um, how do you say cucumber!’

Now she’s back at it again, lisping her way through a recipe from her “Spanish” childhood.

“I grind cebollas and ajo (garlic) together,” she continues in her childlike Iberian confusion.

It appears that the meals, like everything at Casa Baldwin, are “Spanish flavored.”

That’s how the couple described their wedding in New York in June 2012, where they exchanged vows and wore rings that read “Somos un buen equipo,” which means “We are a great team” in Spanish.

The following year, Baldwin, 66, confidently told talk show host David Letterman that his wife was Spanish.

He was apparently unaware that Hilaria was born and raised in Massachusetts and was only vacationing on the resort island of Mallorca, about 130 miles from mainland Spain, where her retired parents now live as expatriates.

A 2014 Elle article referred to her as “half-Spanish,” and elsewhere she has been described as “bicultural,” which is accurate considering both her real and acquired culture.

In keeping with their origin myth, Hilaria and Baldwin have given all of their seven children Spanish names – Carmen Gabriela, 10, Rafael Thomas, 8, Leonardo Angel Charles, 7, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo Pao Lucas, 3, Maria Lucia Victoria, 3 , and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 20 months.

They are collectively referred to as “Baldwinitas.”

Four years ago, DailyMail.com revealed the truth about the yoga teacher’s Boston background, because although her agency’s website listed her birthplace as Mallorca, she spent most of her childhood in a 100-year-old $4 million home in Boston Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Records show that her parents, attorney David Thomas and Harvard Medical School professor Kathryn Hayward, purchased a five-bedroom, five-bathroom home on Pinckney Street in June 1987, when Hilaria was just three years old Moved out 28 years old.

Neighbors there remembered her as a “very sophisticated young lady.”

What they didn’t remember was a Spanish accent.

Hilaria’s brother Jeremy traveled to Mallorca as part of a school exchange where, according to a neighbor, the family fell in love with the place.

But Jeremy’s attempt to live in Spain failed because he “didn’t fit in, so he came back.”

Hilaria’s Walter Mitty parentage became public when she posted a picture of herself in black lingerie with her son Eduardo, which comedian Amy Schumer then sent up.

Hilaria posted a video reacting to Schumer’s dig, but apparently forgot that she supposedly has a Spanish accent and speaks with a non-specific American accent.

Leni Briscoe, a former classmate at the elite Cambridge School of Weston – where annual tuition costs $60,850 for day students and $75,200 for boarders – tweeted: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decades-long dispute over a Spanish woman embodied.” ‘
