Hoda Kotb shares her routine after her exit from the TODAY Show

As Hoda Kotb wraps up her final days at TODAY, she’s already making room for her new routine.

The podcast host and TODAY co-host tells TODAY.com that after her last day on the show on Jan. 10, she has her “weekly plan” in place for her life.

“I think what I’m going to do is – I have it like a schedule because I wanted to set a few days so I don’t wake up and be like, ‘Oh, I’m going to do anything.’ ‘ And then you’re like, ‘Huh?'” she explains.

“So I kind of planned my mini day,” she says.

Hoda plans to start her day just before 6 a.m. with a fitness class

“Because I’m going to sleep for another two hours,” she adds, which is an improvement over her usual 3 a.m. wake-up time.

After training, she makes her coffee at home while her children Haley (7) and Hope (5) get up for school.

“I will bring them breakfast and go to school with this cup of coffee,” she says.

After returning home, Hoda says she wants to “start working on this wellness company I’m starting.”

“I work on a whole bunch of different things, but I’ll be working there for two hours from 9 to 11,” she says. “Then, for the afternoon, for 11-12 – I really want to take time for this period, because you get creative when you have space. If you sprint from place to place, you lose all your creativity.” That’s why I want to have space to go for a walk outside.

Hoda also hopes to have lunch with people who “inspire” her so she can “get more ideas.”

After a little more work in the afternoon, Hoda is excited to pick up her girls from school.

“And throw burgers on the grill and just have a normal evening,” she adds.

Hoda says that setting her daily routine is “the most important thing” for her because she likes a schedule.

She will also have more time than usual to focus on “journal, meditation, prayers.”

“I’m going to make space for myself over the course of days that have usually just been kind of a sprint,” she says. “For example, I had ‘Thankful Thursdays’ where I would squeeze in something good for myself on Thursdays, but it really wasn’t enough.”

“Even if it’s a 30-minute walk — just me, no music, no podcast, nothing — just go for a walk. See what that feels like.”

New experiences for Hoda Kotb’s daughters at home with their mother

The one thing Hoda is most looking forward to doing with her daughters after leaving TODAY is taking them to school. But there are many other things that Hoda likes to let her daughters “experience.”

Hoda’s friend and author Mel Robbins sat down with her on TODAY on January 6 to discuss her “leave her” theory. Robbins also recently implemented this theory in a book of the same name.

“I think the reason this is a magical concept … is because we live in a time where people feel like so much is out of their control,” Robbins said.

She then described the “message” of the theory.

“No matter what’s going on outside of you, the power is always within you,” Robbins explains. “Two simple words, ‘let them,’ are the key to helping you realize what is in your control and what is not.”
