My analysis

The Charlotte Hornets gave the New York Knicks everything they could on Black Friday, and the Knicks walked away with a one-point road win. The Knicks were the 12.5-point favorite in this game and were unable to cover.

Despite losing so many times, Charlotte did a great job keeping the score close. The Hornets have held their last four games within six points and have gone 10 straight without a loss by 15 or more.

However, Charlotte’s recent streak of covering the spread is due in part to playing five straight at home and six straight seven. The Hornets are -2.2 per game at home and -8.6 per game on the road.

In the last two games, New York has won by 15 and 33 wins, respectively. They have won five of their last eight games by 15 points or more.

This season, New York has won eight games by at least 15 points, which is the third-most in the NBA. The Knicks have been great at home and their 14.2 point margin is only bettered by Orlando.

Charlotte surprised New York with such a hard-fought game last Friday, but the difference in talent between these teams – especially after the exit of LaMelo Ball – is staggering. I expect New York to pull off another stunning win at home against a vastly inferior team.
