House X-Account mistakes Cory Booker for Hakeem Jeffries during speaker vote

The post came as part of the vote for Speaker of the House of Representatives, which Rep. Jeffries was running for. Rep. Jackson voiced his support for the New Yorker, writing, “Democrats stand united behind @RepJeffries.”

However, a photo accompanying the post showed Rep. Jackson shaking hands with Sen. Booker. This post was quickly removed and replaced with a photo with Rep. Jeffries.

The caption of the second post added: “I’m proud to cast my vote for him.”

A representative from Rep. Jackson’s office admitted to writing the first X post when reached by The National News Desk (TNND) on Friday.

“House Creative Services had mislabeled the photos,” the representative said. “We corrected the post as soon as the error was discovered. The post was online for less than 2 minutes.

The House on Friday re-elected Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., as its leader for the 119th Congress.

Vice President Kamala Harris was also mocked online Friday for apparently clumsily reciting the Pledge of Allegiance during her term as Senate leader.
