What a great day it is to stay inside.

It’s not just the frozen snow on the ground that people have to worry about – for many of us who woke up Sunday morning, the wind chills were in the teens (at best).

The second half of our weekend remains sunny and decidedly cold, but the bitter cold doesn’t stop there. Temperatures will drop back to freezing Sunday evening, but it shouldn’t feel any colder without a lot of wind.

Winds will die down on another cold morning Monday, with daytime highs likely to be around 25 degrees. Then we gradually warm up over the course of the week.

There will still be freezing temperatures on Tuesday, with the potential to quickly bring an inch of snow on Christmas Eve morning.

By Wednesday the skies should be dry for Christmas and the start of the holiday season
Hanukkah.

With the winter solstice on Saturday evening, the days are getting longer again.

Inviting solstice snow gave New York City its first December snow in three years. Nearly 2 inches were recorded in Central Park, while parts of New Jersey and New York to the northwest saw totals rise to as much as 5 inches.
