How did the Grizzlies’ first-round pick fare against the Clippers? (Dec 23)

Zach Edey made another start for the Memphis Grizzlies in Monday’s home game against the LA Clippers, his 12th of the year. After a few solid games following his return from injury on December 15 against the LA Lakers, the first-round pick got off to a rough start against the Clippers.

Edey remained scoreless after the first six minutes of the game and was eliminated from the game with a three-second defensive violation. During this time he missed three shots. When Edey returned in the second half, he struggled to make a significant impact again.

The former Purdue prospect finished the first half scoreless, 0-4, but had eight rebounds, including four offensive boards. He was +/- +5 for a 58-51 lead for Memphis.

Edey’s tough performance continued in the second half. The Grizzlies big was only able to add three points to his total after a corner three. He missed his other seven attempts on the night, including five from inside the arc. However, Edey remained a threat on the glass. He had six more rebounds, including three on offense in the final two quarters.

Here are Zach Edey’s final stats for the evening:

Edey had three points, 14 rebounds (seven offensive), one assist, one steal, three blocks and two turnovers, for a plus/minus of +3.

The Grizzlies lost 114-110.
