How do halftime show performers get paid? Beyoncé headlines Christmas show

Beyoncé’s last two halftime show performances took place during the Super Bowl, this time she will headline a game on Christmas Day.

WASHINGTON – Beyoncé will perform live in Houston at halftime of the Ravens-Texans game on Christmas Day, streaming on Netflix.

Many people are expected to tune in for Beyoncé’s performance alone, which will reportedly be around nine minutes long. Netflix, for its part, has dubbed it the #BeyonceBowl on social media and is expected to be the biggest test for the streaming giant’s first NFL games.

How many halftime shows has Beyoncé done?

Beyoncé is no stranger to performing at halftime shows. She headlined the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and joined Coldplay’s Super Bowl set three years later.

And you might be surprised to learn that she did both appearances for virtually nothing. That’s because the Super Bowl halftime show performers aren’t actually paid by the NFL for their performances. Instead, the league is covering the costs, which can run into millions of dollars, to put on what is arguably one of the most-watched performances of the year.

How much does Beyoncé get paid for his halftime performance on Netflix?

It’s unclear exactly how much Beyoncé will be paid for her performance at the Christmas Day halftime show. Since it’s not the Super Bowl, things are a little different than their last two halftime shows.

There is a report claiming that Beyoncé’s appearance on the Christmas halftime show could be part of the three-project Netflix deal she signed with the streaming giant in 2019 for around $60 million. The first offering from that deal was 2019’s “Homecoming,” which documented her Coachella performance. The AndScape report suggests that if this were the second “project,” that would mean she received “$20 million specifically for this performance.”

Of course, neither site publicly discloses how much (if anything) Queen Bey earns.

Who is the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show?

Kendrick Lamar will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans in 2025.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced back in September that Lamar would headline the halftime festivities at Caesars Superdome on February 9th. The rap megastar, who has won 17 Grammys, said he is looking forward to bringing hip-hop to the NFL championship game, where he will be a guest artist with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Eminem performed.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
