How much is Jennifer Tilly worth? RHOBH fans reel as her Simpsons net worth is revealed

Jennifer Tilly dropped quite the bombshell on Tuesday’s episode of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” revealing that she owns a piece of “The Simpsons.”

The 66-year-old is best known as an actress in films such as Bride of Chucky and as a professional poker player before appearing on the reality show this year.

She was part of a group trip to Oceanside in the new episode when the discussion turned to the divorce, which Tilly was quite familiar with.

Tilly was married to Sam Simon from 1984 to 1991. He created Fox’s wildly popular animated series The Simpsons, which debuted in 1989 and is still going strong.

During a confessional, Tilly revealed that she actually owns a piece of the long-running show that she got through her divorce from Simon, causing fans on social media to freak out.

Tilly’s net worth is estimated to be around $40 million, including earnings from her Simpsons royalties, acting, reality TV, and nearly $1 million in earnings from playing professional poker.

“My ex-husband was Sam Simon, the creator of The Simpsons.” I was married to him for seven years. We were together for about ten years. And then when we divorced, I got a piece of The Simpsons in the divorce settlement, and no one knew that The Simpsons would go on for trillions of years. So every day, honestly, every day, I say, “Thank you, Sam,” Tilly revealed in her confession.

While Matt Groening is usually considered the sole creator of The Simpsons, he co-developed the series with Tilly’s ex Simon and James L. Brooks.

Groening, Simon and Brooks all served as showrunners for the first two seasons, with Simon also serving as creative supervisor for the first four seasons.

Simon was hailed as The Simpsons’ “unsung hero” by director Brad Bird – who went from directing The Simpsons episodes to producing The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

SIMon eventually left the show in 1993, but after his exit negotiated a deal that gave him a share of the show’s profits each year, reportedly worth up to $10 million per year.

Tilly remained close to Simon until he died of colon cancer in March 2015, aged just 59. In his will, Tilly left 30% of his royalties from The Simpsons through RealityTea.

When Simon passed away in 2015, he had a whopping net worth of $100 million and donated much of that fortune to charities and animal rights organizations.

In 2016, a woman named Katie Porter, who claimed to have been Simon’s “intimate” partner for the last three years of his life, filed a lawsuit against his estate.

She claimed that Simon had promised her in his will to give her $5 million tax-free if she agreed to “refrain from continuing to work.”

Porter claimed she had kept her end of the agreement to which she agreed, although it was not clear whether Porter was actually named as a beneficiary in the will.

Tilly also filed a lawsuit with the estate stating that her 1993 divorce agreement with Simon guaranteed her “continuing community ownership interest,” meaning she was entitled to half of Simon’s shares.

This shared property also included her ex-husband’s projects, which included the long-running “The Drew Carey Show.”

Simon has also served as a writer and producer on a number of successful shows including Taxi, Cheers, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, The Tracey Ullman Show, Saturday Night Live and Phenom.

Tilly also spoke about the money coming from Simon’s Simpsons earnings in a November 2021 podcast.

“I used to make a lot of films because the roof was leaking or to pay for plumbing, and now I don’t have to,” Tilly said on the podcast.
