Snowfall caused by a massive winter storm has largely subsided, but cities across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region remain covered in several inches – or even feet – of snow.

The storm broke daily snowfall records in many states in the central and eastern United States. Additionally, the persistently cold temperatures also mean that the white stuff isn’t going anywhere, at least for a few days.

In its wake, the storm, which devastated swathes of the country from Kansas and Missouri to Virginia and New Jersey, left tens of thousands of people across the U.S. without power, caused traffic delays and forced the closure of schools and businesses.

How much snow was there in Cincinnati?

Southern Ohio was the hardest hit by snowfall in the state, with some areas recording snowfalls of more than a foot, the weather service reports. Areas around Cincinnati saw accumulations of between 8 and 11 inches.

According to the NWS, St. Louis recorded snowfalls of up to 6 to 8 inches in the last 24 hours on Tuesday morning.

Some areas near Indianapolis received up to 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimeters) of snow, according to snowfall reports Tuesday morning provided to the weather service.
