How to watch the NBA Cup semifinals and championship

The NBA in-season tournament – officially the Emirates NBA Cup – is coming to an end, with the semi-finals scheduled for Saturday and the final for Tuesday.

It will all take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

What is the NBA Cup and how does it work?

The season’s second annual tournament began Nov. 12 with bracket play in which all 30 NBA teams were randomly divided into groups of five within their conference based on their win-loss record from the previous regular season, according to the NBA.

Until December 3rd, each team played four group games on designated “Cup Nights” – one game against each of their group opponents, including two home games and two away games.

Eight teams then advanced to the knockout rounds – the team with the best placement in each of the six group play groups and a wildcard from each conference. This phase of the game began with Tuesday’s quarterfinals.

The eight teams that advanced were the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors.

Each of the games played for the Cup will be counted toward the regular season standings, with the exception of the championship, the NBA said.

Who will play in the semi-finals and how can I watch?

The Hawks will face the Bucks in the first round of the semifinals on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on TNT.

The Rockets take on the Thunder at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ABC.

Who will play in the final and how can I watch?

The final game will feature the winner of each semifinal game: Atlanta or Milwaukee vs. Houston or Oklahoma City.

The game airs Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.

What does the winning team get?

The champion team will receive a trophy – the eponymous NBA Cup – in addition to a prize pool that the NBA says will be awarded to players from teams that qualified for the knockout round tournament.

After the championship game, a media panel will select an MVP of the tournament. An all-tournament team will also be named.
