Meanwhile, Hozier staged a special performance of the Pogues’ Christmas classic “Fairytale of New York.” Saturday Night Live‘s Christmas show.

While the original song featured The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan trading verses with the equally iconic Kirsty MacColl, Andrew Hozier-Byrne opted for a version with three different singers: Melissa McMillan, Rachel Beauregard and Kamilah. Hoziers SNL The performance also included a revised fifth verse that cleaned up some of the song’s controversial lyrics.

At the start of the episode, Hozier performed his blockbuster single “Too Sweet.” Watch both performances below.

The SNL The Christmas episode also saw host Martin Show join the Five-Timers Club and appear alongside stars including Hanks, Paul Rudd, Melissa McCarthy, Tina Fey, John Mulaney, Alec Baldwin, Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Wiig and Jimmy Fallon. Additionally, Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che conducted their annual Joke Swap.
