Hudson Meek, the child actor best known for his performance in the 2017 film “Baby Driver,” has died, authorities said. He was 16.

Meek was pronounced dead on December 21 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, the Jefferson County coroner confirmed to CBS News. According to the coroner’s report, he died from blunt force injuries sustained two days earlier when he fell from a moving vehicle.

The coroner said the circumstances surrounding Meek’s death were being investigated by police in Vestavia Hills, the Birmingham suburb where the actor lived and the incident occurred.

In a post on Meek’s Instagram account on Sunday, it was announced that he had died, but no details were provided about what happened.

“It breaks our hearts to tell you that Hudson Meek has gone home to be with Jesus this evening. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and made a significant impact on everyone he met,” the post’s caption read in part.

A memorial service for Meek is scheduled to be held and livestreamed this Saturday, Dec. 28, at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, according to a second post shared on social media Wednesday an obituary.

The obituary described him as “thoughtful and thoughtful,” but “stubborn when he set his mind to something.”

“Hudson’s personality was unique,” ​​it said. “He was self-confident, convinced of his convictions, spontaneous and quick-witted. He never let the facts get in the way of a funny story, and he loved friendly banter. He was a joker, loved a good joke and was happiest when making others laugh.

According to the obituary, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he played football and was a member of the school’s choir and fellowship of Christian athletes. His acting career began in 2017 when he played the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s title character in the action crime film “Baby Driver.”
