Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster confirm they are dating

The curtain rises on a new romance.

Sutton Foster And Hugh Jackmanwhose chemistry is great on Broadway The music Man Delighted fans confirmed their relationship months after romance rumors about the couple began.

Sutton and Hugh stepped out hand-in-hand for dinner in Santa Monica, California on January 6, according to photos obtained by People. He was dressed casually in white trousers, a gray t-shirt and a black zip-up jacket, while she was impressively dressed in a green dress and a camel coat.

As of 2023, both triple threats have undergone major personal changes in their lives, including Hugh and his wife of almost 30 years Deborra Lee Furness announce their separation in September 2023while Sutton, 49, filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years Ted Griffin more than a year later in October.

In addition to their new single status, much of the online speculation that Hugh and Sutton’s relationship had taken a romantic turn was due to the undeniable bond the two shared while working on the 2022 revival The Music Man. In fact, many of her favorite interview moments resurfaced in the lead-up to the announcement of their relationship.

Take, for example, Sutton’s comments on the wolverine Actors when they assumed The Music ManThe main roles are Marian and Harold.

“He has an impeccable reputation for being the hardest working man, incredibly kind and generous – and it’s all true,” says Sutton, who has a seven-year-old daughter Emily with Ted, told fashion in 2022. “He’s become one of my best friends now, which was a surprise because normally when you hear things like that you’re like, ‘Well, I hope we get along.’ But we just spent Memorial Day with our families. It’s really fun to meet new friends after 40.”

She also touched on the chemistry on stage, which sometimes gave the audience the impression that the character was the actors’ character.

“One of the things our director said right at the beginning was that when you watch two characters fall in love, you look for the moments where they make each other smile,” explained the Tony Award winner. “It kind of grew out of that and it’s a spontaneous moment that’s different every night. It goes along these lines: Is it Harold and Marian or Hugh and Sutton?”

Hugh, meanwhile, openly expressed his long-standing admiration for Sutton and her work.

As the 56-year-old enthused Seth Meyers during his and Sutton’s joint performance Late at night in 2022: “I saw it Thoroughly modern Milliewhen you were about 4 years old. I watched everything she did. It’s amazing.”

Sutton – to whom he was previously married Christian Borle– and her estranged husband Ted have kept quiet about their split.

Hugh and Deborra-Lee announced their split in September 2023, mentioning their family – including children Oscar24, and Ava19 – remained a priority.

“We have been fortunate to spend nearly three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the couple said People in a joint statement on September 15. “Our journey is now changing and we have decided to separate to further our individual growth.”

And in May 2023, 69-year-old Deborra-Lee gave an update on how she was faring as a newly single woman.

“(I learned) that I am strong and resilient,” she said People at a New York screening of Force of Nature: The Dry 2. “And that I – we are all a constant evolution.”
