Hulk Hogan booed heavily at the Netflix debut of Monday Night Raw

Hulk Hogan is one of the most famous wrestlers in WWE’s 72-year history, but when he debuted on Netflix’s Monday Night Raw on Jan. 6, his reception was less than welcoming.

Hogan, who was rumored to be performing at the event, entered the arena about two and a half hours into the show to the tune of his classic walk-out song “Real American.” Along with Jimmy Heart, Hogan was greeted by a sea of boos from the crowd as he toasted his Real American Beer brand and congratulated the WWE on its collaboration with the streaming giant.

“I’ve had a number of partners in the past,” Hogan said. “I had incredible partners like macho man Randy Savage. I had huge partners like Andre the Giant. But the greatest partner WWE has ever had is the fact that we are making history tonight and WWE has teamed up with Netflix, the greatest tag team partner of all time.”

Hogan has become a pariah in the WWE community since his heyday in the early ’80s. The trouble began for Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, when a 2007 tape surfaced of him using a racial slur. WWE removed him from their Hall of Fame in 2015 due to the incident, but reinstated him in 2018. Since then, Hogan has only made things worse and has become a staunch supporter of President-elect Donald Trump.

Hogan wasn’t the only WWE legend to appear on Monday Night Raw. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson opened the show and then reappeared after his victory over Solo Sikoa alongside his cousin Roman Reigns. John Cena came out to begin his 2025 retirement tour and declared himself for the 2025 Royal Rumble, and The Undertaker came out and congratulated Rhea Ripley on her championship victory over Liv Morgan. All three were greeted with applause.

In Monday night’s other matches, Jey Uso defeated Drew McIntyre and CM Punk defeated Seth Rollins in a brutal main event.
