Nebraska Football hired UCF Knights defensive coordinator Addison Williams as defensive coach. The program announced this on Thursday.

Williams led a talented Knights secondary in 2023. They allowed the fewest passing yards per game at 196.7. They also allowed just 12 touchdown passes, their fewest allowed since the 2001 season.

Williams also worked as a safeties coach for Coastal Carolina in 2020. Before that, he worked under Gus Malzahn at Auburn.

Nebraska allowed 209 yards per game, which ranked 52ndnd in college football this year. The Knights allowed 218.7 passing yards per game this season.

There has been some turnover on the coaching staff in recent weeks, but it has allowed the program to build deeper connections in Florida. Williams should be able to provide a boost to a secondary unit that struggled with a lack of depth and injuries last season.

It will be interesting to see how this attitude affects the Huskers’ recruiting and on-field results. In any case, the program has had a lot to do in the last few weeks. Below are social media reactions to the news.
