7:15 p.m.: The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 between Silverthorne and the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels reopened around 7 p.m

5:25 p.m.: According to CoTrip.org, Loveland Pass is closed in both directions between Interstate 70 and Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. I-70 eastbound is still closed at Silverthorne.

4:45 p.m.: According to CoTrip.org, Interstate 70 eastbound is closed again between the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels and Exit 205 to Silverthorne. Westbound directions remain open.



3:40 p.m.: According to CoTrip.org, Interstate 70 eastbound has reopened between the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels and Exit 205 to Silverthorne. The stretch of highway is now open in both directions after being closed this afternoon due to the ongoing snowstorm.

3:15 p.m.: According to CoTrip.org, Interstate 70 westbound has reopened between the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels and Exit 205 to Silverthorne. The eastern part of the highway remains closed.



Original story: With a major snowstorm coinciding with Thanksgiving, Interstate 70 through Colorado’s mountains is experiencing closures and difficult travel conditions.

According to CoTrip.org, I-70 westbound and eastbound are closed between the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels and Exit 205 to Silverthorne. Colorado Department of Transportation cameras show ice-covered roads and traffic jams near the tunnels.

Prior to Tuesday, November 26, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning He told drivers that the winter storm would make travel “difficult to impossible” in parts of the Colorado Rocky Mountains at times through Thanksgiving morning. 1 to 2 feet of snow is expected in parts of the mountains.
