Ian Machado Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov clash in the final clash before the record-breaking UFC 310 fight

Ahead of their record-breaking fight this Saturday at UFC 310, Ian Machado Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov clashed at the ceremonial weigh-in.

After Belal Muhammad pulled out of his scheduled UFC 310 title defense against undefeated welterweight contender Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Machado Garry threw his name in the hat to step in on short notice.

With that, UFC CEO Dana White announced that the fight will serve as a co-main event and will determine who next fights with “Remember The Name” for the title.

This fight will break the record for the greatest combined undefeated record in the UFC, with Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa previously holding the record from their fight in 2020.

Since the Irishman and “The Nomad” had trained together before, things remained relatively respectful at the start of their fight camp, but as the fight got closer, things became more heated.

Just hours after they both weighed in for their 170-pound bout, the two took part in the ceremonial weigh-ins that marked their final face-off.

After an intense week of fighting in which it was revealed that Rakhmonov had defeated Machado Garry in training, the two almost came to blows in their final pre-fight duel.

Earlier this week, the unbeaten Kazakh claimed he had used the Irishman several times in training and Garry knew what happened. Instead of denying Rakhmonov’s claims, Garry admitted as much but vowed on Saturday night to “drill a hole in his head”.

“We’re not going to beat each other, we’re good, we’re good,” Garry told Dana White as the two began to compete.

Moments later, the Kazakh began pushing his head into Garry’s as the Irishman tried to push him back before “The Nomad” pushed him away.

They were quickly separated before things could get out of hand, and White sent them off the stage.

Ian Machado Garry claims he is now in Rakhmonov’s head after the intense face-off

Following his idol Conor McGregor, Machado Garry is considered one of the most confident fighters on the microphone and usually tries to get into his opponent’s head before his fights.

This time, however, he remained respectful due to his past with Rakhmonov, but after the last duel, the 27-year-old believes that he is now in Rakhmonov’s head.

“So, I’m picking his brain, Shavkat doesn’t usually get that emotional, he doesn’t get like that. There is an energy there. “He brought this good, strong energy at the beginning,” Garry began to explain in a video on his social media.

“But then I sat there and said to everyone: I think I said that on stage. Sometimes adrenaline might say something different so I have to listen again and figure it out, but I said no, we’re good, let’s come closer, we have respect.

“And then he started pushing his head against mine and I was like, OK, I’m not here to hit you or fight you… Then he started pushing again, so I said, ‘Let me get the fuck out!’ Space, you want to leave immediately, let’s go’, I fear no human being on this planet.

“I’m telling you, I’m in a fix… Let’s go, baby… Your 0 goes tomorrow, I’m staying undefeated… I’ll finish you tomorrow,” Garry finished.
