The ice castles open on December 19th. Construction for both ice castle locations begins at the end of October.

The ice castles typically open in late December and are expected to remain open until February 23 this year, weather permitting. The attraction includes slides, towers, tunnels and frozen archways that are illuminated with different colored lights and include music.

Last year, Cripple Creek hosted the attraction for the first time. City leaders there say it fits in well with their annual ice cream festival, held in mid-February.
