Amber Alert vs Silver Alert: What’s the difference?

There are certain standards that a person’s disappearance must meet in order for police to issue an Amber Alert or a Silver Alert.

Amber Alerts are aimed at children under 18 who are believed to have been abducted and are in danger. Police also need information about a suspect and their car to issue an Amber Alert.

Silver Alerts apply to missing and endangered adults or children. They are much more common in missing people. Just last year, Silver Alert standards were expanded to include children.

In both situations, these warnings must be issued by the police.
