In 2024, it was the celebrity transformations that left their mark

They went blonde, they went pink, they went renegade. Or should we say fashion? In 2024, style notes were enough as we flitted between the aesthetics that dominated the zeitgeist. Consequently, each of these stylistic moments was complemented by the corresponding notes of beauty; Bayonetta makeup for the office siren trend; and then the indie sleaze blast into the past that served as an accomplice to Brat Summer. It was a joy to watch the beauty connoisseurs play with different aesthetics, and ultimately the real fun lay elsewhere – especially when we sensed a groundbreaking celebrity transformation in our midst.

Considering method dressing took on a life of its own this year, it was even better when certain celebrity transformations were tied to a specific press tour. Take Zendaya’s preppy blonde switch for challenger Circuit for example. Or the speckled, textured mullet Kristen Stewart wore through the Love lies bleeding Season. Last? It was Timothée Chalamet with his dedicated attempts to impersonate Bob Dylan on the red carpet during promotions A complete unknown.

However, aside from a fleet of actors showcasing their dedication to their craft, there were also plenty of other fresh-faced debuts that caught attention from around the world. While Lily Collins showed off her shaved bob in cool-girl style, XG’s Cocona definitely kept her fans in stitches as she boldly shaved her head in real time in the group’s “Woke Up” music video. Elsewhere in the K-pop space, Jennie certainly turned heads when she teased some seductive pink locks for her “Mantra” comeback.
