Indiana State is ready to race on Wednesday night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men’s basketball returns to the Hulman Center to face Murray State for the first time since Nov. 22 in the second of two early Missouri Valley games. The launch date is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and 105.5 The Legend. Wednesday night’s game will also be simulcast on WTWO.


The series was renewed in 2023 when Murray State joined the league. The two teams previously met in eight different seasons from 1945 to 2008. Since joining the league, the Sycamores and Racers have met four times, with Indiana State going 3-1 and winning the last three.

In the last game, Indiana State defeated the Bears of Missouri State in Springfield, winning the league opener 80-77. Samage Tel stayed hot, outscoring the Sycamores with 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting and 3-for-6 on three. He was close to a triple-double, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out nine assists. Jaden Daughtry scored 20 points on 9 of 14 from the field. K’mani Doughty recorded seven points and five rebounds and Josiah LeGree distributed five assists.

Murray State fell on the floor for the last time in non-conference, 81-76 at Bowling Green. JaCobi Wood led the Racers with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Nick Ellington added 15 points and seven rebounds to the MSU attack. AJ Ferguson added 13 points and became the third MSU player to grab a team-high seven rebounds.

In recent games, two Sycamores have stepped up their games to help Indiana State build a three-game winning streak. Jaden Daughtry He went 29-for-39 (74.4%) in his last four games (three at the Bahamas and Missouri State). He is averaging 10.9 points per game this season and shooting 59.3% from the field in 18.1 minutes per game. But in his last five games, his shooting numbers have increased despite playing less than a minute more per game (18.9). The sophomore has scored 13.9 points per game and shot 72.1% from the field during that time.

senior Samage Tel leads the Sycamores in points, rebounds, assists, steals and minutes played over the last five games. Teel’s numbers are 17.6 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, 4.8 assists per game, 2.0 steals per game and 33.7 minutes per game. He was named MVC Newcomer of the Week after his performance in the Missouri State game, his second of the season.

When fans purchase an Upper Bowl ticket for Wednesday’s game, they will receive an Upper Bowl ticket for Saturday’s home game against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Tickets are also available for $15 for fans who wish to sit in The Forest during Saturday’s game.

The Indiana State Autism Awareness Game is Wednesday. The Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club will play on the field during halftime on Wednesday. There will be a halftime performance by Mutts Gone Nuts on Saturday.
