Injury Notes: Booker, Allen, Tatum, Lakers, Wizards

The Suns There will be a lack of guards Devin Booker And Grayson Allen on Christmas day. Both players were deemed unavailable for Wednesday’s game against Denver after missing team practice on Tuesday, writes Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.

Booker was originally sidelined for two games after suffering a groin injury last Thursday, with the Suns describing the injury as groin soreness. In its latest injury report, the team now states that the star is out due to a “strain” in his groin. Booker will be missing for the third time in a row on Wednesday.

Allen, meanwhile, has been in the concussion protocol since suffering an elbow to the head in Saturday’s loss to Detroit. This will be the second game he has missed.

Here are a few more injury updates from across the NBA:

  • Celtics star Jayson Tatum was a surprise late miss for Monday’s game against Orlando due to a non-COVID illness, as Brian Robb of MassLive.com points out. Tatum was listed as questionable to play against Philadelphia on Christmas Day due to this illness.
  • Lakers Stars Anthony Davis (left shoulder contusion) and LeBron James (treatment of left foot injury) are both listed as questionable for the team’s Christmas game against Golden State (Twitter link via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin). However, I would be surprised if any of the players missed the game – they were listed as questionable on Monday due to the same complaints before being upgraded to available. Point guard D’Angelo Russell is also considered questionable due to a sprained left thumb.
  • The wizard Starters were missing Bilal Coulibaly (wound in right groin) and Alex Sarr (lower back pain) on Monday, prompting the club to field a small starting lineup of guards Jordan Poole, Malcolm BrogdonAnd Carlton Carrington (Twitter link). While none of these injuries sound serious, we’re still waiting for an update on Big Man Marvin Bagley IIIwho had to be helped off the field midway through the fourth quarter on Monday after suffering a painful-looking knee injury (Twitter video link).
