Injury update: Ajer, Jensen, Janelt and Nunes

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank gave a positive update on Kristoffer Ajer and Vitaly Janelt ahead of the Bees’ Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday.

Ajer was on the bench in last weekend’s 4-2 win over Newcastle United after previously missing six games with a foot problem, while Janelt was unavailable for that win at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, there was less positive news about the fitness of Mathias Jensen (thigh) and Gustavo Nunes (back).

“Everyone from the last game should be available,” Frank explained. “Vitaly Janelt should be available and involved in the squad on Sunday, so that’s positive.”

On Ajer, he added: “He was on the bench, so he is also ready and available.”

“Unfortunately it will still take a few weeks for Jensen to get there, which is a small setback – he is an important player for us. Luckily other players stepped up, like (Yehor) Yarmoliuk against Newcastle.”

“Nunes: The update here is that unfortunately it will take a while. He played the game behind closed doors against Cardiff City and had this stress fracture in his lower back which hasn’t healed as well as we wanted.” Too.

“He could probably develop further, but we want to keep an overview. He is still very young, so there is no reason to force him. He has plenty of time and we can be patient.”

Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (hamstring) and Josh Dasilva (knee) remain out.
