Insider thinks Cleveland Browns should trade Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns are in a very difficult situation heading into the NFL offseason, and defensive end Myles Garrett has just made things a little worse for them.

Garrett put the Browns on notice this week by sending a pretty stern message to the front office, saying he’s “trying to win right now.”

Well, given that Cleveland is just 3-11 this season, it might be difficult for the Browns to jump right back into contention in 2025.

What could this mean for Garrett’s future in Cleveland?

Browns insider Jason Lloyd appeared on 92.3 The Fan and came to a conclusion no one wants to hear: Cleveland should probably pass on the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

“He’s the only piece you need to get multiple first-round picks,” Lloyd said of Garrett. “And considering how long it’s going to take to put this thing back together, it’s better if you leave him this offseason.”

Lloyd believes the Browns should ultimately target Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning in the 2026 NFL Draft because he is not excited about the 2025 quarterback class. He also believes they have far too many gaps to make up for in the foreseeable future.

“If they ever put this thing back together, how much is (Garrett) left?” Lloyd continued. “If he sticks it out, how much would he realistically have left when they are ready to win at a high level?”

Garrett turns 29 at the end of the month and has battled some serious injury issues this season. He was still productive with 38 tackles and 11 sacks, but it’s fair to wonder how much time he has left as a truly elite defender.

Taking all of this into consideration, it may well be in Cleveland’s best interest to trade Garrett now and begin a complete rebuild.
