Iowa State basketball starter Milan Momcilovic suffers a hand injury

Iowa State men’s basketball player Milan Momcilovic has suffered a hand injury and will miss Wednesday’s game against Kansas, Iowa State confirmed to the Des Moines Register.

He injured his left, non-shooting hand during practice on Tuesday. According to Iowa State, the sophomore will be out indefinitely.

This season he is averaging 10.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game on 46.6% shooting overall.

The 6-foot-8 winger is a sharp-shooting threat for Iowa State, leading the Cyclones with a team-high 44.3% shooting percentage. With 31, he has the second-most 3-point shots made on the Cyclones.

Momcilovic has played in every single game for the Cyclones since the start of his freshman season.

As a rookie, he immediately made it into the starting lineup and has started 51 of 52 games since then. Last season, he was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team.

The second-seeded Cyclones are 14-1 overall and 4-0 in Big 12 Conference play. They play No. 10 Kansas on Wednesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT.

Momcilovic averaged 10.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game last year while shooting 42.4% overall and 35.9% from deep. He also made an Iowa State freshman record 61 3-pointers that season, ending with a 29-8 record and a Sweet 16 appearance.
