Irondale police lieutenant was struck and killed while directing traffic at Church of the Highlands

IRONDALE, Ala. (WBRC) – An Irondale Police Department lieutenant was struck and killed Jan. 6 while directing traffic on Grants Mill Road during the Church of the Highlands’ 21-day prayer service.

According to Irondale police, Lt. Mark Meadows struck by a passing vehicle just before 7am. He was taken to Grandview Hospital, where he died.

“Our hearts are immeasurably heavy. Officer Meadows has been with us since we opened our Grants Mill campus nearly 18 years ago. He is family to us. All of our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, daughter, son, family members, fellow officers and the many who loved him. Even in the most trying and trying times, we know that our God will give us comfort, strength, and assurance based on the promise of heaven. We as a church will do everything we can to provide for his family,” said Senior Pastor Chris Hodges.
