Irondale police officer killed while directing traffic

A police lieutenant died after a vehicle collided with him while he was directing traffic on Monday. The city of Irondale released information that Lt. Mark Meadows died around 7 a.m. while on duty directing traffic. Meadows was taken to Grandview Medical Center, where he later died, the city said. “Lt. “Mark Meadows was a valued member of our Irondale family for over 30 years,” said Mayor James D. Stewart Jr. “He was a man of few words but always leading by example, he embodied the heart of a true public servant. His brothers and sisters in the Irondale Police Department, as well as all of our city employees and citizens, will be greatly missed knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father, and we will continue to accompany his family in prayer as they grieve this great loss. “The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating this incident.” The Irondale Police Department would also like to extend our collective support, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Lt.
