Is Davante Adams playing today? Jets Week 17 injury update, fantasy replacement

While fantasy football managers almost always assumed that Davante Adams would go bust after being traded to the New York Jets, he has shown up in the fantasy playoffs when the lights have been brightest. Adams has scored a touchdown in each of his last four games, scored a total of five touchdowns during that span, and scored at least 15 points in half-PPR leagues in each of those weeks.

But now that we’re in the fantasy championship in most leagues, Adams is currently listed as questionable for the Jets’ game against the Bills in Week 17. The veteran wide receiver is dealing with a hip injury that limited him from practicing for New York all week, and his playing status for Sunday’s game is in question.

If Adams played, that could be huge, especially considering how good the Bills defense was. That leaves fantasy managers and football fans alike wondering whether Adams will be fit and what the latest injury update says about his status.

Davante Adams is trending to play against the rival Bills on Sunday in Week 17, although entry into the game is still considered questionable. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported late Saturday night that the Jets’ star receiver is expected to play while trying to catch Aaron Rodgers’ 500th touchdown pass.

However, in recent weeks we have seen at times that injury status can change as players go out to warm up and see how they feel. So while things are currently optimistic that Adams will play this week, it is still a situation that should be monitored until the official inactives are released.

Adams’ status in Week 17 is huge for fantasy football managers, especially since he may have helped them achieve their championship. However, replacing him if he doesn’t play Buffalo is a difficult proposition considering ten teams have already played by Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff. But if you need to replace Adams in your lineup, these players would make a lot of sense.

I’ll be pushing the drum again this week to pick up Jalen McMillan. He’s now the clear No. 2 target in the Bucs’ wide receiver corps and has scored four touchdowns in his last three games, including at least one in every matchup. This also comes while Baker Mayfield has targeted him at least six times in each of those games. He feels like he’s playing on the high floor and at the ceiling, especially with Sterling Shepard out. You could take advantage if Adams is out or if you’re worried about him.

Brandin Cooks could be an extremely effective player against the Eagles’ strong secondary, but with CeeDee Lamb now headed to IR, the veteran is now by far the best pass catcher for the Cowboys’ offense. Do you trust him with Cooper Rush? That’s the question that needs to be answered, but there is an advantage for the Cooks to potentially score the lion’s share of the goals and make some noise in the passing game.

While it never feels good to have a player Drew Lock has his sights on, Wan’Dale Robinson is worth considering, especially in PPR leagues. For one thing, the Colts’ secondary stinks, which could open up opportunities. Beyond that, however, Robinson has been targeted 11, nine and 12 times, respectively, in the last three weeks. Although he has had more than four catches in just one of those games, the chance there could indicate strong usage and potential production.
