The New Year is here, and for millions of Americans that means making resolutions for the start of 2025.

If you’re looking to start the year with some shopping, you’re in luck as most grocery, retail and restaurant chains will remain open on New Year’s Day, although some will have adjusted hours. Most shops were open on New Year’s Eve.

If you need to do some shopping on January 1, Target is an option for you this year, as the company told USA TODAY that its stores will be open during regular hours on New Year’s Day. Target store hours can vary by day and location, but many locations open at 7 or 8 a.m. and close at 10 or 11 p.m. Search for your location using Target’s store locator tool.

The locations were also open on New Year’s Eve, but were scheduled to close at 9 p.m. local time.

The following retail stores will be open on New Year’s Day. Opening hours are listed for the companies that provided them.

• Walmart; 6 a.m. to 11 p.m

• TJ Maxx; 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

• Marshall’s; 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

• household goods; 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

• JCPenney; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m

• Nordstrom; Most shops are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

• Home Depot; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m

• Ace Hardware (hours vary by location)

• Bass Pro Shop; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m

• Cabela’s; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m

• Burlington; Shops close at 10 p.m

• Large plots of land; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m

• Sephora (hours vary by location; check the company’s store locator to find specific hours)

• Office Depot; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m

• OfficeMax; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m

• PetSmart; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

• tractor supply companies; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m

• Harris Teeter (but pharmacies remain closed)
