It Ends With Us has been dethroned by a new film on Netflix’s top 10 list

Well, I thought it would stay at number 1 for a little longer, but it turns out I was wrong. “It Ends with Us” fell to number 2 on the Netflix top 10 film list after just a few days. Now a Netflix original action thriller is premiering: Carry-On.

Carry-On has a really good cast, including Kingsman’s Taron Egerton and Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman (I know he’s done a lot, but to me he’ll always be Michael Bluth, even though this isn’t a comedy). It also stars former Disney star Sofia Carson. It’s directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who has made some…interesting films, but I liked a few, like The Shallows (ironically starring Blake Lively, the film’s star, whose new film has just been cancelled). . Also in his catalog are Orphan, House of Wax, Jungle Cruise and Black Adam. It’s certainly a broad spectrum.

This is what Carry-On is all about:

“A young TSA agent struggles to outwit a mysterious traveler who is blackmailing him into taking a dangerous package on a Christmas Eve flight.”

TSA agent thriller! But even if it sounds a bit silly, the film is rated quite well with a critic score of 86%, which is very solid for a Netflix original film. And it went straight to number 1, indicating high audience interest.

It’s interesting that the closer we get to Christmas, the fewer Christmas movies are at the top of the list, and I swear there were more of them in November than there are now. However, Netflix doesn’t have the best selection of Christmas movies and most of its films are Hallmark-esque one-offs about women in small towns who meet attractive men. But hey, it’s a popular genre for a reason. Lindsay Lohan has now been booked in a few of these films as well, and they have always done well, including this year’s entry, Our Little Secret, which actually hit No. 1 a week or two ago.

As for Carry-On, writing this article has convinced me to watch it with the family tonight, as based on these reviews and the cast it looks like it could be a solid thriller. Hopefully these results prove correct and the two hours make sense. I’ll let you know how it went once I’m done with it.
