Through CountrymanIn the first season of Paramount+, we had a question that burned hotter than a flame on an oil rig: Why cast Demi Moore in the Paramount+ series and then not give her much to do?

As Cami, the wife of Jon Hamm’s Monty, most of Moore’s short scenes in the first season revolved around accusations against the MTex Oil boss for working too hard. We learned that she and Tommy have known each other for a while (and apparently like each other), that she likes swimming… and that’s about it.

However, the season 1 finale sheds new light on her character: When Monty and Tommy are incapacitated with heart problems and are named head of the company, Cami pressures him to complete the very risky but potentially very rewarding deal her husband started had to move forward. so that her family can leave a true legacy.

As the episode ended, Monty died, cementing Tommy’s new role as MTex president. (Read a full recap of the finale here.) Although Paramount+ hasn’t yet renewed the Taylor Sheridan series for a second season, we wondered what this new world order would mean for Cami — and newly minted Golden Globes winner Moore , when the show continues. So we directed our query to the source: series co-creator/executive producer Christian Wallace.

“Cami is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and we haven’t exactly seen her really wield that power and influence, as you mentioned, because she played a very different role in the first season “Wallace tells TVLine. “So as the story continues, it would be very interesting to see what role Cami would play in this world, being the person closer to the top and making these decisions in a world that is still predominantly populated by men is. ”

He adds: “There are more and more women in the oil patch, including women who are now occupying leadership positions in some of the largest companies in this industry. So Cami wouldn’t enter this world alone. But it’s definitely more male-dominated, and that would just be a very interesting role for her in the future. And especially with Demi playing this character who is also at the peak of her powers? I think that would just be incredible to see.”
