Ja Morant pulled off possibly his best dunk of the season on Wednesday night in San Antonio.

The only problem for the Memphis Grizzlies star, which greatly benefited Victor Wembanyama, was that the dunk technically didn’t count.

Morant drove around the wing and drew a foul late in the fourth quarter in the Grizzlies’ win over the Spurs on Wednesday. Morant clearly caused the foul while he was still at the 3-point line, so anything that happened after the final whistle didn’t count.

But neither Morant nor Wembanyama stopped. Morant continued to charge straight toward the rim, where he met the 7-foot-3 star. Morant skillfully rose to his feet and threw a wild one-handed dunk over an outstretched Wembanyama that sent the Grizzlies bench reeling.

Just watch:

The still image under the basket is somehow even better than the video.

Morant finished with 21 points and 12 assists in the Grizzlies’ 129-115 win over the Spurs, moving them to 25-16 on the season. It was also their ninth consecutive win against Spurs. Desmond Bane added 21 points and Santi Aldama finished the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Wembanyama had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs. Stephon Castle led them with 26 points and Devin Vassell added 21 points. They are 19-20 this year and have lost four of their last five games.

And even though it doesn’t technically count in the book, Morant still gets credit for one of the best posters of his career. The two teams will try again Friday night at the Frost Bank Center, where he’ll surely try again before the whistle blows.
