Jaguars 10-6 Titans (December 8, 2024) Game Recap

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tank Bigsby ran for an 8-yard touchdown with 6:46 left and the Jacksonville Jaguars snapped a five-game skid and ended the Tennessee Titans’ slim playoff hopes on Sunday by scoring the final 10 points for a 10th scored -6 win.

Jacksonville (3-10) had already been eliminated, with Trevor Lawrence out for the rest of this season. The Jaguars go home with just their second win in their last 11 trips to Music City and their second win in their last three games.

The Titans (3-10) needed to win to have any chance of clinching their first playoff berth since the 2021 season ended with a division loss on their home field. Tennessee has since fired both a general manager and a coach.

They had the ball twice and had a chance to win.

Their best chance ended with 1:11 left when Will Levis missed Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in the end zone on fourth-and-3 at the Jaguars 9. The second ended with Levis missing Tyler Boyd on fourth-and-15 at the Tennessee 35 with 28 seconds remaining.

Mac Jones stepped in so cleverly that Lawrence took his first win in three starts this season.

He threw two interceptions and threw the ball for 220 yards. In the second half, he repeatedly faced rookie Brian Thomas Jr. The first-round draft pick from LSU finished his career with eight catches on 12 targets for 86 yards.

Cam Little sparked the Jaguars’ comeback in the low-scoring affair with a 23-yard field goal early in the fourth.

Nick Folk kicked two field goals for the Titans. Tennessee went 1-5 at home this season under first-year coach Brian Callahan.

Levis deflected a hard hit to his right and threw his shoulder as he was sacked by Josh Hines-Allen to end the first half. He stretched his shoulder as he walked from the field to the locker room, but didn’t miss a single play and came back for the second time. He finished the game with a passing average of 168 yards.

The Titans’ defense, which had a poor performance in last week’s loss at Washington, had two interceptions. Cornerback Chido Awuzie received the No. 1 pick in his first game since Sept. 22 after coming off injured reserve on Saturday.

With three starters out due to injuries, the Titans couldn’t stop the Jags in the fourth quarter.
