James Harden surprises new homeowners with a holiday shopping spree

On Christmas Eve, 20 new homeowners received an unforgettable gift – a shopping spree at Target – thanks to NBA star James Harden and his Impact 13 Foundation.

For 20 families who recently became homeowners through Houston Habitat for Humanity, the holiday season was brightened by the generosity of James Harden and his foundation. The event provided much-needed relief as they navigated the financial challenges of settling into their new home.

Jason Wright, a new homeowner, expressed his gratitude: “It’s a huge support. It’s a blessing. Something like this doesn’t always happen. If you see an opportunity, take it.”

LaTonia McGinty echoed this sentiment, citing the financial burden of the home buying process: “Very beneficial because the closing process of saving the money to move into the home makes it difficult to wait for the holidays when they come, “So that” was a blessing.”

The families were supported by volunteers from the Impact 13 Foundation, unaware that Harden himself would make a surprise appearance. His presence added an extra joy to the event and to all Target shoppers and employees.

Although Harden no longer lives in Houston, he remains committed to the community. “They (the Houstonians) did so much for me, man. My whole family still lives here. This is who I am. It’s a part of me. You have done so much for me. I feel it is an honor to give back.” . This city deserves it.”
