James Van Der Beek is raising money for “families recovering from the financial burden of cancer.”

The University Blues alum, 47, announced on both Instagram and Facebook on November 22 that he was selling merchandise in honor of the 25th anniversary of the 1999 sports film — all for a good cause.

For the post, Van Der Beek posed in a series of nostalgic photos while holding a football and wearing a replica West Canaan Coyotes jersey similar to the one he wore University Blues Character: Jonathan “Mox” Moxon.

“Merch Drop! Excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of #VarsityBlues with a limited edition Moxon No. 4 jersey – each personally signed by me,” Van Der Beek captioned the images. “Get your copy now via the link in my bio or visit JVDB.Shop.”

“100% of my net proceeds go to families recovering from the financial burden of cancer (including my own 😇),” he added.

The jerseys are currently available on Van Der Beek’s website and are available in multiple sizes and at two price points: a standard replica jersey for $40 and a jersey signed by the actor for $80.

Van Der Beek’s fundraiser comes after Dawson’s Creek star revealed to PEOPLE last month that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. At the time, he shared that he was “taking steps to resolve the issue with the support of my incredible family.” He and his wife Kimberly have six children together: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.

The actor also reflected on his cancer diagnosis in a Thanksgiving post shared to Instagram on Thursday, November 28. Alongside a photo of his family, Van Der Beek wrote: “It’s been a tough year… and I’m grateful for everything.”

“Because of the huge life that cancer has put in my path. For the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends who come through on such a profound level, and in ways that I never could have wished for if I hadn’t gone through that,” he continued.

Van Der Beek also shared that he is “grateful to each and every one of you who reached out and sent good vibes and prayers,” adding, “Everything resonates and makes a difference.”

“I am more grateful than ever to my superhuman wife who has shown herself at a level I never thought possible,” he wrote. “Who showed me what unconditional love is and the magic that comes from it. I’m in awe of you.”, @vanderkimberly. And of course, I am beyond grateful for the little blonde army of hearts that keeps me present, active and inspired just by loving you.”

Van Der Beek will not only sell merchandise, but also contribute to the cause through his participation The real Full Montya special event where he will be joined by a “brave group of male celebrities” who have volunteered to strip down and raise awareness for prostate, testicular and colon cancer testing and research.

The two-hour special event sees Van Der Beek train and rehearse alongside Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, Chris Jones, Tyler Posey and Bruno Tonioli for “the most revealing performance of her career.”

“Before final disrobing, men will push their boundaries, test their modesty and strengthen their bond through a series of rehearsals and experiences, both private and public, designed to build confidence, taking them far out of their comfort zone remove and forge a relationship with brotherhood,” says the official logline. “Along the way, each celebrity will share their personal story about how cancer has impacted their life.”
