More of diversity

Jay-Z’s surprise red carpet appearance comes a day after he was accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000. The lawsuit, first filed in October and originally naming Combs as a defendant, was refiled on Sunday to also name Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter).

Jay-Z responded to the lawsuit in a statement on Sunday, calling the claims “idiotic” and part of an “extortion attempt, so-called demand letter, by a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.”

He added: “My only sorrow is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit down with our children, one of whom is at the age when their friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain people’s cruelty and greed. I mourn another loss of my innocence. Children shouldn’t have to endure something like this at a young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand the inexplicable extent of the evil that seeks to destroy families and the human spirit.”
