Jay-Z wants the rape case against Sean “Diddy” Combs dismissed or Jane Doe’s name revealed

Less than 24 hours after Jay-Z was publicly named in a lawsuit accusing the “99 Problems” rapper and currently incarcerated Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old over 20 years ago, on Monday a flood of files released Musician and entrepreneur born Shawn Carter wanted the whole thing thrown into the legal dumpster or brought into the light of day.

“The defendant respectfully requests either the dismissal of the allegations or the disclosure of the plaintiff’s identity,” reads a memorandum accompanying a motion filed this morning in federal court in New York by Alex Spiro, Jay-Z’s influential attorney Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, is attached. “Fair is fair.”

The horrific alleged attack on then-teenage Jane Doe is said to have occurred on September 7, 2000, during one of Diddy’s drug-fueled so-called “freak offs” shortly after that year’s MTV VMAs. An Oct. 20 graphic accused Combs of rape, but only mentioned a male Celebrity A and an as-yet-unnamed Celebrity B who were also involved.

The alleged celebrity A is now called Jay-Z/Shawn Carter.

“Mr. “Carter deserves to know the identity of the person who actually accused him – in a sensational and high-profile way – of criminal behavior, demanded massive financial compensation and tarnished a reputation built over decades,” Spiro’s memo said “This court has recognized that the nearly identical claims of other plaintiffs represented by Attorney Buzbee do not meet the criteria for an anonymous proceeding. Here, the balance sheet of the shares provides all the more reason why the plaintiff should use her true name should proceed if she wants to proceed at all.”

Attorney Tony Buzbee first brought him to trial on Oct. 20 under the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, as one of dozens of civil lawsuits the Texan filed against Combs, who is being tried on criminal charges The documents initially stated that “Celebrity A” and “Celebrity B” joined the Bad Boy Records founder in a brutal and repeated sexual assault of a minor. On December 8, after an anonymous “celebrity and public figure residing in Los Angeles,” represented by Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, filed an extortion case against the hyperbolic Buzbee in LA Superior Court on November 18, the Houston resident filed Attorney on Sunday reintroduced his original lawsuit Beyoncé’s better half is now in the spotlight like no one ever wants.

In a lengthy statement not long afterward, on December 8, the usually reticent Jay-Z admitted to the media that he was the celebrity in the LASC case, personally writing about the amended civil lawsuit: “These allegations are so heinous that I ask you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil complaint!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked up, don’t you agree?

Adding some “strict codes of conduct and honor” in Brooklyn, the famed wordsmith and multi-Grammy winner added, “This lawyer that I did a little research on seems to have a pattern of this kind of theatrics!” I have I have no idea how you became such a deplorable person, Mr. Buzbee, but I promise you that I have seen your like many times. I am fully prepared to deal with your type. You claim to be a Marine?! Marines are known for their bravery, they have no honor or dignity.

Responding later yesterday that his longtime pal Jay-Z of Combs “not only sued me, but attempted to bully and harass me and this plaintiff,” Buzbee took to social media to vent in this clearly naked to withdraw from the fight.

In late November, his third attempt to get a $50 million bail approved failed. Combs is scheduled to stand trial on May 5, 2025, on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and solicitation for prostitution. He has been behind bars at the notoriously harsh Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest on September 16 in a New York hotel lobby. Combs, 55, who has pleaded not guilty, faces life in prison if found guilty by a jury is found by his colleagues.

No date has yet been set for Jay-Z’s request for a hearing on his motion to dismiss the rape case or unmask Jane Doe. For those who know the name of the billionaire rapper’s lead attorney, Alex Spiro has represented a number of big names over the years, including recently representing Alec Baldwin’s now-dismissed involuntary manslaughter case for the fatal shooting in 2021 rust Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
